Sir Frederick has been Treasurer of the Household since 1031.

In 1901 he was named Advocato of the Scottish Bar and in 1904 was. called to the Bar of the Juner Temple.

He was severely wounded whan serving with the Lovat Scouts in! Egypt and Balonika.

In April, 1929, he was Junior Lord of the Treasury and Inter in the same year was named Solicitor- General for Scotland.-Renter.
