YESTERDAY

New York, Mar. 14.

LA

The following reports on the New York stock market have been received) through Messrs, Swan, Culbertson & Fritz: The Wall Strait Journal ro- port on yesterday's markets: Stocks declined as much as three pointo owing to general pessimisms over the Utility situation, plus the hesitancy complicated news, of Traders due including, firstly, the Treasury's call of First Liberty Bonds, which it believed will make present holdern buy Municipal issues, thus placing more government bonds in banks; secondly, the buying of Sterling and sale of Franca abroad. The dollar rose to a premium in terms of frames, due to further talk that the monetary conference at Bruanels on Monday might break up, with Belgiam, later forced to adopt devaluation. were irregularly higher owing to the Stocks call of First Liberty Bonda. on the Curb exchange were ninu fr regularly higher, in spite of profit. taking. Brokers' loans have increased by $1,000,000..

Dont

Cotton: While there were intima- clons from Washington to the effect that a loan on New Crop was con template should! conditions warrant it, the important matter of the amount was not mentioned, and may not be until August. In the meantime, the factor may absence of this price

Many probably be very unsettling. Court decisions against New legislation could easily undermine ennfidence in the Government's ability to attain its objective, and the pes sibility of a large increase in cheap Brazilian cotton is not conducive to un optimistic view. We think that a conservative position, with a reduc- tion on long lines on upturns, is ad- visable, pending a more stable out- to Commodition look, which applies generally.
