SIX MONTHS FOR EMBEZZLEMENT

Tai Ping-lam, partner of the Ping Cheong firm, No. 30 Swatow Strect, was this morning sentenced to six months' hard labour by Mr. D. M. MacDougall, at the Central Magis- tracy, on admitting charges of having embezzled $395.23 from the firm on various dates between February 14 and Documber 6 last

Mr. G. S. Ford appeared for the complainant, Lay Hing-lam, and asked that a serious view be taken of the case, because defendant was In a position of trust when he embezzled the money. He had collected accounts on behalf of the firm, and had not paid them in.
