The Diocesan Girls' School's charity fund benefitted by over $600 on Saturday, when they held a drill and dancing display in their playground at Kowloon. A large number of people attended the function, among those present being the Han, Mr. R. II. Kotewnl! and Mrs. Koltewall.
The programme opened with: three songs and dances by the kindergarten students. This was followed by na exhibition of mar- ching by the students of Class 8, after which Class 4 gave a charm- ing display of English country | dancing.
The demonstration of an old English dance by Misses P. Crofton, Shiela Burros, Kitty Delgado and Phyllis Lang, was recalved with warm approval. The dancers were dressed in Victorian costumes, the first two young ladies taking the part of gentlemen, while the others took
the Indies parts,
Little Betty Lee captivated the audience with her exhibition of a Dutch dance. Loud applause marked the conclusion of her performance, which was perhaps the most delightful and appealing ilem on the programme.
