Prosecution's Conc. Outlining the case for the pro- secution, Mr. Mackinlay said: "The facts shortly are as follows. The defendant

It was to count the money and check it, and then initial the cash book. It was then the duty of the defendant to enter particulars of the amount in what was known as the paying-in book, and also to make out a credit alip which was a memorandum giving particulars of the amount for book-keeping purposes. Then he should take the money, paying-in book and credit slin to the head ofco in Gloucester Building. The

Thirty Bags Missing. He did not say anything to the defendant at the time, but went back to the head office and reported it to the manager, who instructed him to get in touch with the defendant. He was not able to do so, and he later heard that after he had left the branch office a further 16 baga had been sold and that defendant had received the money for those bags. Further efforts were made during the course of the evening. to get in touch with the defen- dant, but it was not until 8 o'clock the following morning that Mr. Becker, the accountant, was able to see him.
