Leung Wah, 24 years, a clerk, residing at No. 74 Hennessy Road, first floor, was convicted by Mr. W. M. Thomson, at the Central Magistracy this morning, en n summons for having kept an unregistered. mui-taai, Chong Hang, alias Kwai Fa, aged 14 years, and was fined $50,
Sub-Inspector Fraser, of the S. C. A., said the girl came to his office on August 81 and said she was an unregistered mui-tani In the employ of the defendant. She also complained of having been beaten with a feather duster. hor There was a faint mark on mouth, and marks on her right forearm and right leg, but the medical officer, who had examined her, was of opinion that the beat- ing did not amount to cruelty. The girl was presented by her mother for $130 (Canton currency) to defendant's mother, who pre- sented her to defendant as part of hia marriage dowry. No wages had been paid her.
