The splendid weather of last summer played its part, and nearly every club showed a far more satisfactory turnover than was the ease the previous year.
If ever opportunity stared cricket in the face, it will do so during the approaching season. The visit of the Australians will have a twofold effect upon the prospects of the county clubs. Already club membership and applications for season tickets have shown a decided increase. The game as a whole will attract the attention of a wider public.
The moral is plain: Don't send this eager public to sleep with featureless exhibitions of stonewalling but give them fair samples of the joy of cricket.
