Aniacs Honoured.

After proposing the toast of the King, Dr. Matthews said it was only Atting that, in view of the proximity of Anzac Day, they shoud pay homage to the men of Australia and New Zealand who had fought for. their King, thole country and their Empire. Ho therefore prosposed the toast of "The Anzacs."

In Hongkong, said the chairman, the prior rights in the celebration of Anzac Day had been ceded to the Anzac Company of the Hongkong Volunteer Defence Corps. Arrange meuta had been made to lay wreaths at the Cenotaph at 11 a.m. on Wednes- day morning, and he hoped that na many Australians and New Zealanders as possible, would attend that cere-

miony.

"Today," he said, **I received a most courteous message from my friend, the Consul-General of Japan, asking the mission to be the guests of the Japanese Government during its stay in Japan! On bobalf of Aus- tralia, I thank Japan for its cordial welcome.

"We have been looking forward to this visit to two great countries, with. civilizations stretching back into the centuries. Wo have much to learn from these civilisations and that our mission will be a success is my earnest wink. (Prolonged applause).

Mr. Latham'a Promise. At the conclusion of Mr. Latham's speech, Dr. Matthews, on behalf of the Association, thanked the deputy Prime Minister and called for three cheers for the mission and its leader. When the noise died away, Mr. Latham promised that when he re- turned to Australia, he would ask the Postmaster General to investigato the irregularity the mail servico between Hongkong and Australia, and would put any other matters ralaçd by the Australian Association before the proper authorities in Canberra.

LESSON SERMON,
