There was an amusing Incident | during the production of “I was a Spy" at the Gaunxut-British studios. The film comes to the King's Theatre on Wednesday. Madeleine Carroll, as 'an extremely good-looking daughter of a restaurant keeper, is making the beds when she is postered with the dubious intentions of a drunkon Ger- man officer. The dialogue in this situation is hardly pro-German, and Imagine the feelings of Madeleine Carroll and Victor Saville when they noticed they were being watched by Ronate Muller and her escort, a young German officer, who were on a flying visit to London. The director's tact- ful explanation that this particular scene was the only scene in the pic ture which showed the German ear in a bad light was a masterpiece of diplomacy.
