CINEMA SCREENINGS

NOTES SUPPLIED BY

THE THEATRES

Ronald Colman in “The Masquera- dor" comes to the King's Theatre on

Sunday as the last and final effort

of a series of brilliant screen triumpha that began in company with_Lillian Gish in "Beau Gosto," "Stella Dalian," "Dark Angel," "Bulldog Drummond" and "Arrowsmith." After "The Mas querader," there, won't be another

There is a history to the thrill and the heart throb of The Manguerader." Years ago, it was one of the cal popular novels over published, running Into hundreds of thousands of coplex in America and in England. And Bow Howard Estabrock has brought the famous melodramn up to the minute. Ronald Colman in lis dual roles In concerned with the great problems of England to-day-unemployment, la- beur throubles, strikes and financial crises. It is a strange human problem of two men so closely resembling each other that a woman is unable to recognize her husband in her lover and is unable to accept as her husband the man she loved and married. With Colman in his dual roles are Elissa Landi, most recently seen in "The Sign of the Cross", and Jullette Comp-- Zon. Richard Wallace directed the pleture for Samuel Goldwyn.

"Kongo".

When Walter Huston introduced hils rolo cf. "Deadlegs" Flint in "Kongo" to the New York stage he proved himself one of the most powerful character artista of the current foot- light generation. Already he has proved himself similarly on the screen, but in bringing his famous role in Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's screen pro duction of "Kongo" commencing to- day at the Queen's, he adds to his henours. "Trick For Trick"

The new film at the King's Thentro to-day is "Trick For Trick". the mystery melodrama_from_Fox, with Ralph Morgan and Victor Jory in the principal roles of two rival magicians. The film, directed by Hamilton Mne- Fadden is an adaptation by Howard Green of tho successful stage play by Vivian Cosby, Shirley Warde and Harry Wagstaff Gribble. In the featured rates, Morgan and Jory hava the most important characterization of their careers. The leading-feminino rola is portrayed by Solly Blane, and zhe shares the romantic interest with Clifford Jones, stage star, who makes his screen debut with this picture. The cast in support of these principals contains a number of the most pro- minent character actors in the film colony. Among these are Tom Dugan, Luis Alberni, Ed Van Sloan, James Burtis, Adrian-Morris, Jehn-George, Willard Robertson, Herbert Bunston, Dorothy Appleby, Boothe Howard and Jimmy Leong. The unusual technfeut elements required in the production were under the direction of William Cameron Menzies.
