According to Messrs. Swan Culbert- son and Fritz, the, New York market was stendy yesterday. Business done 000,000 shares. The Wall Street Journal report on yesterday's market; The market was very dull and generally downward with the ex- ception of the gold, silver and traction slocks. Silver reached the year's high of forty-one and half cents per ounce due to continued rumours that the Administration will talio sume action to bring silver to A more favourable ratio with bar gold. The Street is discussing the possibility of fifty cent silver. Gold- stocks were disturbed owing to talk that gold producers tax may be in- stituted. American Iron and Steck Institute reported steel at 25.2% of capnelly, The Stock Exchange, all New York Markets and banks will be closed on Tuesday due to Election Day. There will be no foreign ex- change. Our Now York Office Cable (This morning).

Stocks: The market moved in a meaningless manner and pending new developments, irregularity is likely to proval. Wheat: Buyers were cau- fous. There were pronounced ad- vances In the Liverpool market which brought realizing sales. Statisties, crop news and the weather are bullish. Buy on declines. Colton: The market declined largely due to December liquidation. The ten cuat loan scheme more popular and alding holding movement, and basis reported higher, bat general uncertainty characterizes market operations. Silver: The market closed very strong on speculative buying.
