electrical engineer, and Joined H. M. Service, being first attached to the engineering branch of the Post Office. Subsequently he went to the Colonial Ofer and served abroad.
When he returned to England ho became engaged in the manufne- lure of electrical apparatus, later Practising as Consulting Indus trial Engineer in Manchester, and, being eventually engaged in Indus- trial work in Birmingham.
He took a close interest in lab- our and coinmercial questions.
DESIGNED AIRCRAFT. He organised the manitfacture and design of aircraft for the Ad- miralty, Army and later the Air Force; and also the production of Mine Sinkers, Projectiles and Munition Factory Equipment.
He served on innumerable com mittees and bodies, was one time Chairman of the British Committee of Empire Trade, and acted as in- dustrial adviser at the Ottawa Economic Conference.
He was the author of many ar- ticles and issued a memoranda on Export Trade, Finance, Education and-Postal Matters,
