At Messrs. Lammerts' auction rooms, Duddell Street, yesterday afternoon, the sale was held of nine Chinese 3-storey tenement build. ings situated at Nos. 2-18, Swatow Lane.

A number of Chinese were pre- sent, but bidding was confined to only three. The auctioneer (Mr. L. Lammort) announced that the property would have to be sold, and left the bidding to be started by those present.

A firat offer of $27,500 was in- creased by bids of $500 and $1,000, to $36,500, nt which figure the property was knocked down to Mr. Yip Kang-ping.
