YOKOHAMA, SEPT. 1. FIVE EUROPEANS HAVE BEEN KILLED IN- A FRIGHTFUL ACCIDENT ABOARD THE BRITISH SUGAR SHIP, ATHELQUEEN, CAUSED BY AN EXPLOSION SOON AFTER THE VESSEL HAD LEFT YOKOHAMA. ·

The victims of the tragedy are:

Mr. S. G. Knott, the chief engineer;

Mr. M. O. Putt, the chief officer;

A. M. Rae, an apprentice;

M. Johansen, a carpenter;

W. Read, a deck hand.

Details are lacking for the moment. The vessel has returned to Yokohama bringing the five bodies back to Japan.
