Don't become possessed with the idea that you must make a pro-emptive bid or jump to game, immediately just because you have a long, strong trump auit.

Pre-emptive bidding is almost a thing of the past at contract to-day about the only thing a pre-emptive bid does is to shut your partner out of the bidding.

Declarer should now try to ca- tablish a club-entry in dummy so as to be able to take the 'beart finesse. His proper play is the queen of clubs, but East will refuse to win the first club trick and will play the eight.

In order to get a rending on the hand the declarer should now awing three rounds of spades, die carding three hearts from dummy, East will drop two clubs and the jack of diamonds-this will practi cally mark him with the king, of hearts as ho has refused to mako'n heart discard.
