Cullen Wins With A Wick
EXCITING FINISH TO BOWLS TIE
H. Nish, 1932 runner-up, ob tained easy entry into the third | round of the open singles lawn bowls championship yesterday when he defeated J. A. Howe, on the K.C.C. by 21 shots to 4. Howe discovered Nish in his dendliest form, the K.B.G.C. expon- ent pulling out his best shots to win head after head. A gontinu- ance of such form would make Nish a frm favourite for the title i'is year.
F. Cullen of the Kowloon Dock: had a much tougher and most in- teresting match with J. Chadwick, the K.C.C. representative.
Cullen won by two shots on the 23rd head, but before he obtained the winning point he experienced several anxious moments. parti- cularly towards the close, when Chadwick, taking a new lease of life, bowled his best to reduce a deficit.
Chadwick succeeded in levelling the scores at 19, and then Cullen scored with a rather fortunate wick and scrapod home.
Both players indulged in high class bowls' and if Chadwick can consider himself unlucky to lose after such a redovery, it must also be recognised that Cullen, through his consistency, deserved his suc- cess.
