WORLD ECONOMIC CONFERENCE
ITALY SOUNDS A WARNING
DANGERS IN A CHEAP MONEY POLICY
LONDON, JUNE 21.
THE HONGKONG TELEGRAPH. THURSDAY, JUNE 22, 1933,
ONCE AGAIN A NOTE OF WARNING HAS BEEN SOUNDED AT THE WORLD ECONOMIC CONFERENCE, THIS TIME DURING A DISCUS- SION UPON MR. NEVILLE CHAMBERLAIN'S PRO- POSALS FOR CREATING LIBERAL CREDIT FACI- LITIES IN ALL COUNTRIES.

With the general principles of the proposals, there was little disagreement, but the Italian delegate pointed to the danger of making credit available before a de- mand for credit established itself. The obvious danger MR.
is that the resources will be used for purely speculative purposes, leading to an artificial boom and a further catastrophic reaction.
TRADE RESTRICTIONS.. The problem of trade restric-| tlons is now the topic of dis- cussion in the first Sub-Committee of the Economic Commission.

AND A SERIOUS INJURY
An argument between LWO Chinese in Talfoo Street, Sal Wan Ho, on June 20, led to one of them pleking up a stone and throwing it at the other, who received a gash on the head.
The assailant, Chan Chuen-choi, was charged before Mr. Schofield,. at the Central Magistracy this morning, and ordered to pay $20 amends or go to prison for three weeks, and in addition was fined $50 or one month's hard labour. He was also bound over in $50 to keep the peace for one year.
Sergeant Slater said that the injury to the complainant, Chan San, was such, that at one time there was the likelihood of a serious charge being proferred. The de fendant absconded, and was arrest- ed yesterday afternoon,
