Let's All Turn
"Sun-Worshippers"
By Olive Roberts Barton
The sun la here. Let un turn aun-worshippers while we may. The winter has been long and sunless except in the southern-| most states where, we hear, even they have lacked their usual quota of bright days.
Do we need sun? We do, and the children do-everybody docs. Every living thing almost except mushrooms needs the rays that sustain life and defeat illness.
After a long winter our grand- mothers used to get out the sul- phur and molasses, brew 9088a- fras ten and concoct beverages that were supposed to do some thing to the blood. What they did. we must suppose, was to sup- ply that mysterious vitamin "D"! that is really sun-storage.
But the
Nothing Equals Sunshine. We give it to the children in the form of cod-liver oil through the winter months so that they have a first-rate defense against lack-of- sun diseases such as rickota. even so, nothing can take place of the sun itself, the source of life. Why shut ourselves and the children away from It? Yet it almost seems as if human be ings, especially in the cities, regard it as a merely incidental thing. like putting on a bit jewelry when convenient.

Bables get sunbaths of course nowadays most of the winter through, indoors and under the direction of a doctor. Then they reach the age of two or three and what happens? Perhaps they get a walk overyday all bundled up, but the only sun that really touches their bodies is that which touches the face. Fresh air is One but it is not sun.
Must Reach the Skin. Sunlight through 1 window pane is of little use. It is warm and cheery but that is about all. Thero should be nothing between the body and the direct rays of Old Sol.
I belive it is a splendid iden to give all young children or weak ones an exposure once a day. It is cold outdoora still, too chilly to go out without wraps, at least too chilly in most places to get out sun suits. They are fine for later on, however.
In the meantime with the win- dow open and protection from draughts, the nude bath may be caally taken.
There is one thing to remem- ber. First exposures should be only five minutes long and then slowly worked up to a longor period each day. It is well to ask the doctor. It depends, as do most things with children, upon age, strength, condition and local climate.
Use Good Judgment, Just as soon as possible when it is warmer, get them into abbre-| viated sun sults for a short time each day and send them outdoors. When summer comes they can

eyes will Artfully shadowed look upon summer as a time for romance aupreme.
Just a bit of soft green shadow, put on over a mist of cream across the lid, heightens the allure of eyes. Green shadow goes beauti- fully with the pastel coloured things that usher summer in.
However, if your eyes ara blue, you may find blue shadow more?
suitable. Brown eyes, when the colouring is medium blonde, tako to green shadow. When they are dark brown, with chestnut hair or black, then a purply brown tint on the eyes is fine.
There's a new type of eye make- up suggested for this summer. This consists of using two eye shadows. First you match the colour of your eyes, then you put on a film of green over it to give an effect of life and sparkle.
Don't overdo daytime make-up, even though your nat has a wide brim. Save your best efforts for evening. And don't forget those sparkling new eye shadows that have a metallic effect combined | with colour.
Those that have green, with a silvery cast, are almost universal- ly becoming. Have you tried
them?
