Under the direction of C. P. 9. Buller, a black lacquered box was opened by Wong Chi and nine taela of oplum found inside. Asked whore he got it from, he said: "Oh, I got eleven Laels from the const- able." Therefore, there were two taels missing, and he was told about that. From his pocket he produced a further tael, and from a jacket he brought out the cleventh tool.

Both Wong Chi and the constable were then arrested.

In this case, continued Sgt. Macdonald, there would bo two witnesses who would say that on the previous night Lau King was on that same floor between 11 o'clock and midnight. They sawi him carry a parcel, and one of them would say that the parcel contained tins resembling tins of oplum.

A lower rate of commission existed in 1931 due to cheap money for the greater part of the year; from September, money commenced to tighten up. As it is we carned 1.33% interest in excess of 89% paid on our Debentures, in addition to $146.825 commissions. From the above it will be seen that our 8% Debentures are secured by first mortgages on 56.4% of value and backed up with $5,000,000 capital,

The following extracts aro taken from the Chairman's statomont at the last annual Shareholder's Mooting, Fobruary 29th, 1932,

"We fool that the Debenture holder from an investment standpoint, is just as much an interested partner of the Company as the Common Shareholder and is entitled to his just roturn on his Investment, and by the figures given on the two years' working, I think we have amply proven that wo were right, that our Debenture holders receive olght par cont. interest instead of six per cent."

"The most successful concerns of the future will be those who recognize this principle--that even banks will allocate to depositors a part of profits earned on their money over and above current rates of interest. As our balance shoots show quito, plainly, the proceeds from the sale of our debentures is not used for the purchase of Real Estate, as we are not speculators, but for investment in first class, mortgages, amply socured not only by the value of the property pledged as security, but as a further security, the dobentures constitute a first claim on the total assets of the Company. An analysis to the figures involved shows. that every debenture has behind it assats equal to three times its value."

"If after careful consideration of actual facts and figures you are receiving less than 8 per cent. upon your invest- ment and or savings, you are not using Judgment but following old customs, believing 5 per cent. and 6 per cont. are current ratos."
