CINEMA SCREENINGS.

NOTES SUPPLIED BY THE THEATRES

One picture that has caused. more casting troubles than any other film produced since the advent of talking pictures is "Over the Ill," which open on Sunday at the King's Thea-. tro. The key character of the story is "Ma" Shelby, mother of the brood around whom the plat revolves, Coil- ing for an actress equipped to enact both a woman in her prime and an old lady in her declining years. It re- quired one who was a mistress of her art.

Reallsing the enormity of the tank of finding such a person, Mr. Win- Hold Sheehan, Fox Vice President and General Manager in charge of produc- tion, took it upon himself to find this artist. But he soon reached the

point of despair when test after test availed him nothing. It was then that Mr. Sheehan happened to recall an artist who had retired from the scream some twelve years ago, a star, film who had abandoned a brillant career for the more important carcer of motherhood. But he niso recalled that she had refused many flattering offers to again face the camera. How- ever, where others falied, Mr. Shechan succeeded
