Books dealing with early China, its history, politles, sociolugy, cus- toms, together with novels were all mentioned by the speaker, whose conclusions regarding the various literary contributions in connexion with the country and its people added much to the in- terest of the paper. Concluding his paper. Professor Middleton Smith suuid:
