Amery, wife of a former Secretary of State for the Colonies, met at Government House last Thursday. Lady Peel took the chair, and there were also present Mr. W. II. Bell, the Hon. Mr. J. P. Braga, Sir Shouson Chow, Mrs. E. Cock, Major V. E. Doclos, Mrs. R. M. Dyer, Mr. Tang Shin-kin, Lady M. Ho Tung, Mr. A. Hicks, Mrs. J. Owen Hughes, Mrs. R. II. Kotewall, Mr. G. P. de Martin, the Hon. Sir Henry Pollock, the Hon. Mr. W. E. L. Shenton, Mrs. W. T. Southor, Mr. J. H. Taggart, the Hon: Dr S. W. T'so, Mrs. A. H. Walker and Mrs. Kinnard Watson.

After Mr. Shenton had, at Lady Peel's request, outlined the objects for which the Committee had been appointed, the meeting agreed that n special effort should be made on Empire Day this year, along the lines suggested in Mra. Amery's was de Ietter. The Funeral,

The funeral, which took place yesterday afternoon, was attended by an impressive naval coremony.

A naval firing party from the ship preceded the coffin, draped with the Union Jack and resting na gun-carriage drawn by other Petty Officers of the ship.
