SALARY CUT FOR JAPANESE PRIMARY TEACHERS.

Tokyo, June 1. The Government have decided to extend the salary cut to the trachers in the primary schools who are drawing over 100 yen a month. This cut will become operative on July 1 next, and will affect over 15,000 out of ently 300,000 teachers.--Reuter.

HOSPITAL ABLAZE.

FIRE IN JAPAN IMPERILS. LIVES OF PATIENTS.

Tokyo, June 1.

The Greek of 500 patients were

gravely imperilled when a fire broke

but in the early hours of this morn- ing, at the Kanazawa Hospital Part of the building was destroyed before the flames could he got under control.

Nurses and other willing helpers, with courageous disregard for i danger, enrried the patients to safety. Two firemen were killed, and two injured, during the battle with the flames.-Reuter.
