20 YEARS OLD.

Many Old Buicks Still Giving Good Service.

1904 MODELS.

One - hundred and Afteen ntolorists In widely scattered sections of the United States to-day are driving Buick cars that have neon twenty or more years of service. In many instances the venerable old automobiles are still in the service of original pur- eltasors, while the others have been in the used tar markel two, threol and more times.

The uxlatence of those ald Ruicks, some of them dating back to 1904, was discovered recently in a nation-wide state by state survey of Bulck registrations. These Buicks, ancient but still running and serviceable, were two and threo years old when Presi dent Roosevolt sent the United

around States battle-flook

the world in 1907.

In all states of the country the official figures disclose the yearly models of cars registered. โป these figures

the investigators found the basis of Buick's reputa tion for durability and servico. A final check showed 73,271 Buicks on the highways that had enia- pleted ten or more yours of ser- vice: 2,500 that have been in use for Afteen or more yearn, and 115 that have been running more than a score of years.

The survey, included cara regia- tered up to August 1, 1939. With the addition of these latest figures from the factory recorde it was found that the grand total of Buicks in operation on January 1, of this year, was approximately one and a half million care.

On the basis of national popul:-| tion of 122,000,000 people, these Agures give evidence that one per- son out of every 81 in the United; States is driving a Buick, and, on; the accepted estimate of persona to a family, they indicate that about one family in every twente owns a Buick.

Nash Convertible Cabriolet Makes International Appeal

MUCH of the Interest in new models at the re-

cent New York Motor Show ecatered around the Nash display where a new French-type Convert- ible Cabriolet for four passengers-Model Eight-81 -made a successful debut.

This new Nash model, evolved as a resultofrescarch by Nash engineers during visits to Europe, was espe clally admired by Emil Salmson, Sweden's leading motor car merchant and Vice-President of the Royal

of Com-

Automobile Club of Sweden, who was the guest of Mr.

Nash and of the National Automobile Chember merce during the show. Mr: Salmson stated that the new Nash Convertible Cabriolet meets, almost exactly, European tastea in cars of this type. Mr. Salmson, stand- ing beside the new Eight-81 in the Nash booth at the New York Motor Show, placed the first order with the factory for the new Noah Convertible Cabriolets..

This dual-purpose Nash car, which may be changed quickly from a winter proof enclosed model to a dashing. top-down, touring car for tropical use-and vice versa- is the only automobile of its type in the Nash price field, Previously, models of this type were available only In custom-built cars costing two or three times as much.

Nash offers this interesting car on two chassis-Model Eight-81 on a 121-inch wheelbase, and Model Eight-71 on a wheelbase of 116 inches. While these new nuxels were designed primarily for international markets, their outstanding success at the New York Motor Show pres. ages a vogue for them in the United States, where motor- Ists. tired of the continement of the conventional sedan, anrently have been waiting for a car of just this type.
