THE man next to me was study- ing one of those bright little con- theatre programmes which tain, besides tho' list of scenes and the names of the cast, various atories, jokos, and oddments of theatrical information. One of the most popular features of this programme la Its saries of "con- fessions," in which various actors and actresses inform the' public of their favourite flower, their favourite food, their pet aversion, and the like. It was one of these confessions which aroused the ire of my neighbour. "How can they make auch fools of them. selves?" he demanded, with snort. "How can anybody but a half-wit havde a favourite flower or a favourite anything, for that. matter?"

I do not agree with this critic. I am all for the man who saya, quite definitely, that he has, favourites, whether they are: animal, vegetable, or mineral. All Specialiste..
