STERN REBUKES ADMINISTERED,

„CHURCHILL SPEECH

CRITICISED,

Londen, Dec. 18. Mr. Winston Churchill's recent speech on India has provoked a strong reproof from the Prime Minister and a vigorous disclaimer from the Timra that his view in any way represent Conservative policy. The Times saya that the chosen representatives of all three British political parties are work. ing night and day-working it may he hoped not na partisans but nu a team and with some hopes of success--to reach a basis of un- derstanding with the representa- tives of India for the solution of a most difficult and dangerous altua tion which confronts the British Empire. "Mr. Churchill may fairly

E claim that his

specch matched by corresponding efforts in India to spread distrust of the Confer- eber, of the delegates, and of the " honourable possibilities of nettlement.

But be is no mure the representative of the Conservative party than the assassins of Cal- eutta represent Indians now as sembled at the Round Tabje. And his speech will have just a little influence upon British policy warda India."
