Mr. Lenox Simson spent a fair

night and his condition at nooni was reported to be as satisfactory as could he expected. He is. however, very weak and it is not considered advisable for the pre- sent to attempt to remove the bul let from his spine.

The old Custom's staff. under Mr. Greirson, formally took over the control of the Customs this morning. The change was accom. plished quietly and without inci- dent. It is understood that Mr. Simpson's staff are receiving a gratuity of a month's salary in Hieu of motive.--Reuter.
