OBITUARY.

COL; J. S. BOSTOCK DIES SUDDENLY.

Ilia many friends in Hongkong will be shocked to hear of the death of Colonel John Sou- they Bostock, C.B.E, late R.A.M.C., which occurred suddenly at The Priory, Burford, Oxon, on August'

12.

A

Colonel Bostock will be remem- bered not only by Service people: in Hongkong, for he had a host of friends in the Colony, and took an active part in many of the social phases of the Colony's recreations and pastimes. Before leaving for Home in February of this year, to take up the appointment of Com- inandant of the Royal Army Medical College in London, Colonel Bostock was Senior Medi- cal Officer of the Hongkong Area. An active golfer and successful· in several Services competitions, he took a keen interest in cricket and football, being no mean ex- ponent of both games in his play- ing days. He was a primé moyer in the wireless world of the Colony, and also served on com- mittees connected with amateur theatricals.

His memory in the R.A.M.C., in which he was first commissioned in 1901, will be kept greea for long years, for he presented the "Bostock" Cup, which is played for by the cricket teams of the R.A.M.C. Companies stationed at Home. His many activitlea can- not be better described. than in "Who's Who," where his recrea- tions are given as cricket, 'tennis, golf, polo, hockey, swimming, bil- liards, etc.

Colonel Bostock was born June 5, 1875, and married Olivia Emslie, the daughter of Emslie John Horniman. He is survived

On behalf of the staff, he wished the recipient the bost of health and good luck in the Old Country.

"
