Lee Kwan, a house-coolie em ployed at a Peak residence, who was previously remanded on charge of possessing seditious pamphlets, was acquitted by Mr. Lindsell, on Saturday morning.
When Mr. M. K. Lo appeared be fore him and announced that he had been lustructed for the de- fence, the Magistrate stated that he had previously told Mr. Fitzroy, the Public Prosecutor, that he was prepared to hear arguments on the 1930 contention that the papers were 214.50 seditious. INCIDENT.
MOTOR BUS RUNS OFF
THE ROAD.
An alarming experience befel the passengers on one of the motor buses on the Castle Peak route on Saturday afternoon. According to the driver of the vehicle, some difficulty was found with the steering shortly
after the bus had passed through the cutting at the top of Tsin Wan Hill, and was proceeding towards Laichikok, and when on a bend, his efforts to steer proved unavailing, with the result that the bus ran across the road to the right, and mounted the small bank. At this point; there is
drop of at least one hundred feet, but, fortunately, the driver, by vigorous application of the brakes, brought the vehicle to a standstill with the front wheels but a few inches from the brink.
There were only a few passengers in the bus at the time, but al though there were no injuries among them, they received in un- pleasant shock.
Evidence given previously was to the effect that a Shantung policeman on duty near Jardine's Corner saw the defendant scatter- ing leaflets on the roadway, and arrested him. The constable SANITARY PROBLEM.

MOTOR CYCLE CRASH.-Renter.
COMBINATION HIS WALL IN THE CITY.
Some excitement was caused at the bottom of Wyndham Street shortly before one o'clock yesterday when an A.J.S. combination, driven by a Chinese, got out of control and collided with the wall underneath the show window of the East Asiatic Trading Company, Asiatic Building, Luckily, there were no injuries, although a coolie had a narrow escape from being hurt.
It appears that the combination was proceeding slowly up Pedder Street and was turning to the right when suddenly, for some unexplain- ed reason, the motor raced and the machine shot across Queen's Road The and mounted the pavement. front wheel crashed into the wall and was knocked badly out of shape. The side car did not ap- pear to be damaged.
Several coolies were standing near the spot and they immediately. jumped aside with the exception of one, who was a little late, but he jumped just in time.
