Magnificent and apectacular tennis featured the contest be- tween the Rumjahn cousins and J. A. E. Cassumbboy and C. A. L. Rumjahn in the semi-final of the doubles championship yesterday, when the former snatcher a re- markable victory after being two sets in arrears. The final scores read 4-6, 3-6, 6-3, 6-0, 6-2 in their | c. q. M. S. Porter 27 favour, but they give no inulcation of what a thrilling match it was, The fact that C. A. L. Rumjahn and his young partner. took the first two sets was sufficient to make the spectators gasp, but the electrical exchanges which follow. ed equalled anything yet seen in the Colony. The cousins wont all out and by pure force of their attack won through. 7

CANTON WOMEN WIN TENNIS DOUBLES.
Hangchow, Apr. 11.
Three thousand spectators attended
the last day of the all-Chinn sports meeting here yesterday to witness the Anal contest for the Volley Bail shield between Hongkong and Canton, After a keen two hours tussle, the Canton team won 2-1.
On Wednesday the Canton tennis players had a most successful day, defeating the Hongkong representa- tives in the raen's singles and doubles in the finals, thus winning the prizes buth groups. The women's singles for went to Tientsin, who defeated the Cantonese player on Wednesday.
In the men's basket ball tourna ment, the Tientain contestants defeat- ed Shanghai in the final by 58-23. The women's basket ball team from Shanghai, met the Peking team in the fimul, but was defeated after a very close match.
Hongkong Successes. Viewing the results of the meeting as a whole it is considered satisfactory that despite the fact that Hongkong was not represented in the events confined to women, yet the "HODE- kong teams were runners up, being second only to Shanghai. Hongkong won the prizes for the baseball and swimming, while Canton won the tennis and volley ball, with the Muk den representatives capturing most of the track events and Tientsin win- ning the basket ball final. It is un- derstood that a Shanghai contestant won the individual
championship,

Peking, Tientsin and Harbin were very close in the events confined to
women.
