Continuing, the speaker said Mr. Makeham's work for the Wesleyan Church and the Home during the 80 years he had been in the Colony was too well-known to need any repetition. Mr. Edmonds believed Mr. Makeham was not here when the Home started but joined very soon afterwards, and had boen one of its staunchest supporters ever since.

No claims will be admitted after the Goods have left the steamer's Godown, and all Goods remaining un- delivered after the 10th February, will be subject to rent.

Among others who spoke of the kindness of Mr. and Mrs. Makeham was Mr. W. H. Smith, the manager of the Soldiers' and Sailors' Home, who sald Service-men appreciated very much the welcome this couple had always extended them at their home in Pokfulam. He had been manager of the Home for about 18 months, said Mr. Smith, and in that Lime he had grown to know Mr. and Mr. Makeham very well and nobody knew better than he how greatly Service-men benefited by having come in contact with them.

Mr. Makeldim replied, thunking all those present for

their many complimentary remarka, and said he and Mrs. Makeham would always remember the friends they would leave behind on their departure for Australia. Concluding, Mr. Make ham said "I hope that God, in His goodness, may bless the Wesleyan Church and you all,"

The following is the inscription on the blackwood cabinet.-"Pre- aented to Mr. and Mrs. C. Makcham, by members"and friends of the Wanchal Weslevan Church, Hong- kong, as, a token of their esteem and appreciation."

The proportion of over 17, per cent. of Britain's total output was for owners living abroad, this figure showing an increase on the previous year.

The general conclusion drawn from the figures is that the ship- building outlook le brighter than in recent years, since tonnage on which work has just begun not only reaches a high level, but more than Iaunched. replaces the tonnage Nevertheless, the capacity of Bri- tish yards still largely exceeds the demand. This is due to the whole sale manner in which they were ex- tended during the late war, and the severu restriction of naval work since its end.-British Wireless.
