A FAREWELL SMOKER TO."

A very enjoyablo smoking concert, "po mark the departure of the Berwick for home to-morrow, was held on Friday night in the Chief and P.0's. Club, and a large number of people were entertained with a long pro gramme of numbers contributed by C. 1, 0. artists. very talented Horner, at the plario, accompanied ali the musical items with his customary skill To name but a fow of the contributers, the Rov. Hewitt, with rocitations humorous and wise; Sjt. Johnson, R.,, with broad Cockney songs, Mr. Hooper, with a very clover skit on biblical history, and many others, made the concert go with a swing until the end, which came at 11.80.
Farewell Dance.

Lano, Crawford's restaurant.] The "Bear" band will provide the music, and those who attended the dance given by the same ship's com- pany earlier in the season dre almost certain to want to repent the pleasure then enjoyed.

The football, especially in the Arst-half was of a high standard and not a single foul occurred through out the 70 minutes.
The Gunners from Lyemun (12th Unitary were down the defence of Battery) scored first but 31st Battery their opponents, and early in the wecond half Cotton_equalised. The 31st might have added to their score but their shooting was a little erratic,
