At King's Park yesterday the Y.M.C.A. were at home to a hockey side from the University, and the former won an exciting game by three Petherick,
There are other criticisms open, but since the selection is finished, no good purpose would be served in volcing them. The Civilians are not represented as strongly as they might be, but the team is good enough to make the Army gogoals to nil, very long way.

Team Selection. While on the subject of team selection, it would not be amiss to refer to the Interport trials. Two have been played and hitherto they have not warranted comment. When a strong side was put into the field, the Chinese turned out

When a strong Navy not be called for the "Bericants" eleven provided the opposition, Mess." the "Interpotters" fielded a for- ward line which would have done little credit to a team. No value, and a trial given to a new outside therefore, could be attached to right if B. Gosano does not prove either game. It may be suggested the right man without his brother, that the defence was tested The younger Gosano hardly has the against the Navy, but even this is experience necessary or the confi highly problematical. The defendence essential for Interport foot. ders, with poor forwards in front ball. of them, lacked any inspiration to give of their best.
I was rather impressed a week or two ago on observing that the Interport selectors were apparently adopting new team-buildings meth- ods. Since then they have, so to speak, rather fallen from grace.
The defence will look after it- self. That is to say, if the long series of representative games due in the next three weeks or so does not produce definite Indications of possible Improvements.
The Army will be represented to- morrow 18 follows-Fletcher; Oliver, Reeves: Everest, West, Joyce: Rayson, Stock, Gill, Bawley- Bull, Butcher.
The Club Reserves will be re- presented as follows:-Pankhurst; Sloan, Potouloff; Hynes, Railton, Jackson; Dinnen, Bell, Fowler, Wilson. Reserves: Thompson, Hooper, Stirling.
The big problem before them is The composition of the forward line and nothing is to be gained by fid- diing about: On the contrary, this will make the final selection much more diMeult. Since it is certain that Goldman will not fill the centre forward position, it is serl ously suggested that the selectors might discord all that previous ideas and start all over again.
