Mr. Andrewes then read tho statement by the defendant in which he said that he was on patrol in the Kowloon Docks at 4.15 p.m. on Sunday when he met the Indian) watchman, Ojagar Singh. After going over the preliminary facts of the incident the defendant, in re- ferring to the shooting, said that while he was standing joking with the deceased after the sergeant had loft, he had had his revolver inside his trousers. The deceased clapped the weapon and asked in English if that was his gun.
According to the statement, the 'deceased asked to "look see" the gun. The defendant said that he then started to walk away and he jump- ed over an object and continued to joke with the deceased. He show- ed his gun to deceased and it ac- cidentally, went off.
