Young in years, but old, it would appear, in experience of the seamy side of life, Cheung Kivan, a lad of 13, to-day detailed the vicissitudes which led to his being charged before the Magistrate with the theft of a baby's cap.

Cheung said that his father, anxious that his son should follow in his footsteps, had given him: some money with which to make a start in life as a hawker.
