A spectacular advance in the

development of modern Singapore will be the rebuilding of the Europe Hotel, plans for which are now complete and awaiting ap- proval by the Municipal Com- inlenfonera.

In general the architecture will be plain, with artificial stone frontages, and a richly ornamented cornice. London, May 20. Travelling at nearly 40 miles an hour, the 140 h.-p. speed-boat Sea Hawk, with eight passangers on board,. crashed into Felixstowe Pier yesterday morning.

Ban Francisco, June 17. The United States, circuit court to-day dismissed the appeal of Myles F. Fukunaga, of Honolulu, whom the Hawaiian courts have sentenced to be hanged for kidnap. ning and murdering Gil Jamieson, a 10-year-old boy, last year.

Fukunaga is a Hawallan-born Japanese youth. He kidnapped Jamieson with a vlow to obtain- ing ransom, but became frightened and killed the boy before the ran- sam was paid. He obtained the ransom after the Ind had been slain and he was traced when he spent part of the money..
