Brown was found guilty of manslaughter following one of the most sensational trials that has been conducted by the army since American occupation of the archi- pelago.
On the evening of October 1, he was one of the principals in a brawl occurring at Santa Ana Cabaret, Van Ness was alhin, and Brown was the slayer. Testi- mony was introduced during the trial at Fort Santiago that the soldier had acted in self defence. The final arguments of both the prosecution and the defence were heard Thursday morning, and an Friday after 55 minutea delibera- tion the Court arrived at # decision.
