Declaring that the criticisms amounted to contempt of court, the Judge refused to hear counsel who had been engaged in a case of a claim for rent for offices in the North China Daily News building, ruling that he had a legal precedent for this decision.
In response to argument by counsel, the Judge stated that if plaintiff succeeded in the action, the benefit would be to the newspaper company in question, "who are in contempt of this Court," and therefore he would not hear the case.

A FIFTY-GAMES' BATTLE:
The third of the Wimbledon Championships to be decided, the Men's Doubles, resulted yesterday in a sensational win for Tilden and Hunter (America) over the holders, Cochet and Brugnon (France).
It is indicative of the severe nature of this year's competition. that the three Championships so far decided have changed hands, Cochet and Helen Wills the Singles winners,, achieving the honour for the first time. »
The Ladies's Doubles Championship will also fall into resh hands since Miss Ryan and Miss Browne are not this year in associa tion, but Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Godfree, the British holders of the Mixed Doubles, have reached the semi-final.
There was a titanic battle of 50 games' duration in the final of the Men's Doubles, each pair winning 25 games. But the French pair lost on sets, after being within one point of the match in the third set. /
