SATURDAY'S CRICKET:

INTERESTING MATCH ON

CLUB GROUND,

One of the most interesting matches of the season

was that played on Saturday between the Hongkong Cricket Club and the Combined Léagno. With both teams at full strength, it was not surprising that no definite result was roached.

Club v. Combined League. Hayward and Evers, opening the Club Innings against the bowling of Goodwin and Bracó, sot a standard for the other batsmen by knocking up 71 runs before they wore separat ed. The next five players made fair scores and at 184 runs for the less nf eight wickets the innings was de clared. Hayward made 60 runs in. a Ane Innings before he was dia missed by Rumjaha, who took o brilliant catch at first slip. Ho hit out enterprisingly.

The Combined League opened vert poorly losing the first hepa wickets for 25 runs,

Finchor

Sayer saved the situation by hit up 77 between them. With lo 1 ablo 27 from Mr. "Extras" tiáko was taken to 135 for. Ave whê whon etumps were drawn.

*

Tamar v. Indians..

The Indian Recreation Club works surprisingly defeated by the Tama on the Naval ground at Happy Vol. lay, the decision going to the enlloy. by the margin of 46 runs. This the first defeat suffered by the Book kumpoo team and reduces it to love terms with the Police.

ti

The Tamar eleven batted first and although only two players reache double figures, Beagley being scorer with 37, the innings realis 133. There were no leza than extras. King was responsible for runs and was undefeated at the ef of tho inninga Sirdar Khan tured six wickets for 30 runs.

The Naval bowlers were on the of their form and with the of tion af A. K. Minu (32), al Indian batsmen wore diaminsed ly, the last man being bowled the score was still 46 rong the Tamar total.

Bensley was also successful with the ball, talking six wickets for only 27 runs.

University v Recrelo.

The University second string pro- vided a second surprizo by beating the Club do Recreio at Pokfulam by one wicket.

The visitors went to the wickets irst and compiled a total of 182 runs, of which Pinna scored 55. Lee with four wickets for 19 runs was the most successful bowler of the match.

The home team, after an exciting finish, passed their opponent's score with one wicket in hand. Kermani made 47 of the total of 134. Alves took" four wickets for 25, rand.

Civil Servies v Navy. Another rather unexpected result was that between the Civil. Servico, and the Royal Navy, played on the formers ground, the Happy Valloy team beating the opposition by four wickets.

Out of a total of 153 made by the Navy, Duncan contributed 81 not out and O'Donnell 25. Witchell's fivo wiekels cost him 44 rugs..
