I have been severely over-enrol led recently no fewer than 27 bunda of raucous young. rufflans having attempted to convey tidings of comfort and joy to me through the letter-bax. But it was largely my own fault. I happen to live In a neighbourhood where, in spite of the removal of the epal restric tims, supplies are very limited and diflcult to proeure. I am very glad to see that the doctors are keeping breast of the tipes and have managed success. Cully to invent & thoroughly new and up-to-date ailment, to wit, Charleston knee. As may be "in-" ferred from its name it is caused be excessive indulgence in the Charleston, the fascinating little side-kicks which put an unae- customed strain on certain liga- ments of the knee and produce a painful swelling. I am not my self á Charleston fanatic, and whenever ant present while it is heing danced always feel that i an or shinned against than shining, so to speak. But that is by the way. That prolific young poet, Mr. Beasley Tosher, has just brought out a new volume of poema en- titled ""Fish-Glue and Fog Signals" from which he has very kindly allowed me to quote the following seasonsble verses:-

Donington (Lincolnshire) boasts of a centenarian. in the shape of remarkable old lady who, a week' or two ago celebrated her 103rd birthday. Being a centenarian, faney, must assuredly by one of the healthiest occupations known, for all the centenarians I've over read about have lived to be at least 100, though of course this is a mere malehill in the ocean of time when one thinks of the ages altained, by Methuselah and Noah. Sull 103 is a very notable achieve- ment in these hectic days, and I like to read that Donington's old lady attributes her great age to "a quiet, Hfe and moderate living". I didn't know that such pacific con- ditions were possible, in England, nowadays. I wonder what Noah attributed his great age to? Let me turn up the back numbers of the "Ararat Argus".... Ah! here we have it. "Interviewed on his 900th birthday Mr. Noah (who by the way is not a tee-totaller) informed our representative, that he attributes "his longevity to the fact that he was born such a long time ago, though he admits that possibly his not having been drowned in the Flood has likewise had something to do with it.
