REFERENCES TO LAST YEAR'S INTERPORT.

The annual report of the Shang- hal Football Asscelation states that asacciation football still re- mains the premier winter sport in H+ Shanghai, and while the increase in the number of foreign teams is very noticeable, the increased en- thusiasm shown by the Chinese is nothing less remarkable. It is also remarked that the attehdanev at matches on the Racecourse often numbers two thousand, whilst "at" the Interport and Cup matches played on the Pioneer field four to five thousand witness the games.

E. Hollands to the secre

It is, and always has been, the view of the writer that the close alliance of the two bodies, peculiar to Hongkong, require, for really smooth working, a dual secretary. Mr. Hollands has occupied both positions at the same time in the past, and since he indicated his pre- paredness to stand, there is every reason to assure that ac in still able to devote the necessary time to the somewhat onerous duties.

The Association and the League are, more or less, interdependent, „ and co-operation is more than de sirable. That there has been a cer-Hirminigam tain lick of collusion in the past is well-known, and a typical instance ! of this was shown at. last Friday's meeting when a request that the League fixtures should be completed by January 1st. was taken much too seriously in spite of the obvious fact that the request was one with which it was impossible to coniply, Owing to the unfortunate death of Inspector Dorrington, Mr. Hol-Hull City was

Jands was able to attend the meeting to clear the matter up, and the confusion in the ranks grew such an extent that one secretary asked if it was intended that teams In the First Division should meet each other only once.

First Division secretaries may, however, rest assured that they will not be expected to arrange half a dozen mill-week fixtures between October 9th and December 31st.

NETHERLANDS TENNIS CLUB VISITS MACAO.

N.T.C. of Hongkong visited Macao, On Saturday and Sunday last tho' to meet the team of the Foreign Lawn Tennis Club.

The Dutch players were beaton by a narrow margin of one point, the result being 50 games to 49 in favour of the hosts.

The Netherlands team consisted of the following players: Messrs. Buys and Bamondt, Woudenbarg and Heintzen, Knottnere and de Voer.

"Mention must be made of the two Managers who accompanied the Hongkong team on their visit, Messrs. Hollands and McGubbin these two gentlemen were of every possible, assistance to the Aasöcía- tion on all matters in connection with the Interport matches.",

As to finances, it is remarked that the Association, in carrying forward a balance of over four thousand dollars can. at last be considered to be on a sound finan cial footing and it should now be possible for it to carry on without having to depend to a certain extent on the generosity of ita supporters..
