to the Singapore Principal Civ. Medical Officer, Mr. Nichol, arrested

Chinese, Lim Swee Kim, and charged him with practising den- tistry without a licence and using the title of dentist. A fine of $100, in default two months' rigorous im- prisonment, was imposed.

The death has occurred at Teluk Anson of Mr. R. H. Réid, a well- known European chemist who lived for many years in Perak and was at one 'time connected with Oldfield's dispensaries. The funeral Wis largely attended.
