Miss Purdom of the F., M, S Educational Dopartment, had a somewhat nasty motor car accident the other day while coming towards Kuala Lumpur from the direction: of Batu Village, but fortunately without injury to herself. Miss Purdom was being driven in her Morris Cowley car by her Javanese syce, when at the 1 mile the car' collided with a passing lorry. The car was fairly damaged, but neither Miss Purdom nor her driver re ceived any injury. Inspector Mo hamed Noor of Kepong visited" the scene of the seeldent soon after- wards and as a sequal charged Miss Purdom's driver with driving with- out a licence. Accused was fined $5 it being stated that he had a licencé to driver nn Overland car.
The prospectus of the Perak River Hydro-Electric Company has been published. The Master of Elibark is chairman and Sir Thomas Barlow vice-chairman. The authorised capital is £3,600,000, of which £1,000,000 is in ordinary shares. The F.M.S. takes £500,000 worth of cumulative preference shares, with the right to appoint a director. The requirements of power in Perak aro $7,000,000 units. It is estimated that the re- venue will be £455,000 and the an- nual surplus by £382,000.

to the Singapore Principal Civ. Medical Officer, Mr. Nichol, arrested
Chinese, Lim Swee Kim, and charged him with practising den- tistry without a licence and using the title of dentist. A fine of $100, in default two months' rigorous im- prisonment, was imposed.
The death has occurred at Teluk Anson of Mr. R. H. Réid, a well- known European chemist who lived for many years in Perak and was at one 'time connected with Oldfield's dispensaries. The funeral Wis largely attended.
