MR. ALAN COBHAM'S RETURN FROM THE CAPE--Mr. Alan Cobham landing at Croydon after his flight from Lonlon to the Capo and back, a distance of 17,000 miles. On the return journey Mr. Cobham flew 8,500 miles in 80 hours flying tima. He was accompanied by Mr. A. B. Elliott, engineer, and Mr. B. W. G. Emmott, cinematographe. At Sevanoaks Kent Mr. Cobiam's b'plane was met by Imperial Airways expressos containing sightseers, who waved the first welcome to him from the air. Later, Mr. Cibham received by the King, to whom he delivered the letter he had brought from the Earl of Athlone, the Governor-Genera of South Africa. This, is the first message to be brought direct by air from the Capo to London. (Times copyright/.

The steam- ship Berlin, fom which the photo was taken, sent the boat with a doctó to the s.8. Hanover, to treat a sick sailor. Then the water got so rough that the lifeboat and its orew had to compete their trip to New York as Hanover passengers.
