CONSTRUCTION OF A
FLOATING DOCK..
London, Jan. 14. The Daily News learns that the Admiralty is negotiating with several of the principal ship- builders regarding the construc- tion of a floating dock for Singa pore capable of lifting a ship of fifty thousand tons. Reuter,
Twolve thousand bushels of Garnet wheat-the grain which exports say will revolu- tioniso production in the prairie provinces--are to be distributed in lots of ten bushels oach to Western Canadian farmors for planting as seed next spring. Experiments have shown that "Garnet" wheat will roduce the time between sowing and reaping to 100 days, achieving maturity ten days oprlier than. Marquis wheat. It also escapos frost, where Marquis does not, and givos high production in seasons of drought, the yield on some Occasions having been more than doubled.
After 36 years' service with the London polico force, Dotcetivo-| Inspector John Roid is retiring. Ha Was engaged in many Eonsational oriminal cases, and was. foarod by West-end orooke and confidence tricksters. Ho had control of the detective department at Wembley, and his arrangements caused several well-known gangs of Continental criminals to give the Exhibition, a wide barth.
