Promotion.

The story of a Chinese who was shot while attempting to excupe over a verandah was told at the Criminal Sessions this morning, before the Chief Justice, Sir Benry Gollan. The accused, Chinese named Fung Wong-sang. was charged with robbing the Po Tai pawnshop at Hunghom, of a large quantity of jewellery, to the value of $5,000, in company with j

Stating the facts of the case, Mr. H. K. Holmes, Crown Solicitor, said on July 30th, at 5.15 pm four men entered the pawnshop, and bound and gagged the cupants, after which they took the articles mentioned in the charge. Was arrested on August 13th, and in the house where he was living was found some of the stolen property, tuge ther with other miscellaneous attempting to jewellery, On escape over a verandah, a Chinese policeman fired at him, and in- ficted a wound. He had been in hospital for three months.
