A TEACHER'S CLAIM::~ STORY OF AN ALLEGED DEFICIENCY.

Defendant Master Gets Judgment.

A Chinese vernacular school teacher was the plaintiff in an action in the Summary Court yesterday. His name is Hon Yuk- aing, a certifented teacher, and he sued Wong Yee-man, school- master of 57 and 58 Battery Street, Yaumati, for $04.40, being four months salary at $40 a month, legs payment $85.40.

Mr. G. R. Hayward appeared for the plaintif and Mr. C. A. S. Russ for the defendant.

for which he had to pay $10 a month, and which amount plain- tiff agreed should be deducted from his wages. The letter set out details followa. Four

months salary for the extru teacher at $10 a month, $40: board and lodging at $13.50 a month, $54; and payment made $66; a total of $160, which was four months' salary at $40 month.

Mr. Hayward added that his client was capable of correcting Chinese composition but had never been asked to do so.

Board in Addition. Plaintif bore this out in evidence. He said the arrange meat was that he was to get his board and lodging in addition to $40 a month. He had received $65.40 and there was due to him $94.60. He taught the first class and he had to teach Chinese com- position. He did not agrev at any time that another teacher should be engaged for this composition and that the latter was to be paid $10 from witness's sulary.

Cross-examined, witness said he was at St. Paul's College before he entered defendant's service
