LAWN TENNIS.

SUZANNE STILL SUPREME. St. Cloud, June 6-In the The most surprising resulb in French bard courts lawn tennis League bowls on Saturday was the championship finals, R. Lacoste defeat of Taikoo by the Kowloon beat J. Borotra: 7-5, 6-1, 6-4; Miss K. Bowling Green Club, The lattor Mile. Lepglen bost led all the way through and MoKanu 6-1, 6-2.-Routor.. finished up 30 points to the good. Another somewhat unexpected zo- suit was the victory of Craigengower) ovor Kowloon Dock on the latter's) green. Craigeugower are going vory strong for the championship this year, and now have a lead of Taikoo, their two points, over nearest rivals. The Kowloon C. C. went down heavily on the Civil Service green, and those two teams now occupy bottom positions in the toblo.

In the second division, the re- sults were very much as anticipat-| ed, A particularly interesting game was that, between Taikoo and the Indian R. C., the home. team just managing to win by a single point.

TROUBLE IN GREECE.

AN ISLAND SEIZED.

Athens, June 7. Trouble has broken out on the Island of Samos, where insurgents haveseized Government buildings, arrested officiale, released pri- soners from the gaols and looted the contents of the stato coffers amounting to nearly one million drachmas. Whether the move- ment is political or a more act of banditry on the part of two notorious and influential Samian briganda, the Brothers Vaflados, is not yet clear, but it is known, that the leaders are demanding the resignation of the Greek goy- elections. ornment and frosh

Though this may be more camou flage the Government is deter mined speedily to orush the out- broak and has despatched a naval squadron to surround the island
