MAKING BIG CUNS.-The U. S. Secretary of the Navy accompanied by John Coolidge, son of the President. made a tour of Inspection of the naval gun factory at the Washington navy yard. Rear Admiral B. F. Hutchinson is showing the secretary how the big guss are made.

FIELD GUN CAMOUFLAGE.~The Choking army is making good use of camouflage for hiding their guns as this picture, taken outside Wangdo within a 1 of the firing line, clearly shows., The guns are well protected with earthworks and the men can shelter from enemy fire in well-constructed dugouts in the gun plt.

SHANGHAI PRECAUTIONS.--The French Concession at Shanghai is strongly guarded against chance attack and recently every entry from the Siccawat Creek was closed by marines with barbed wire and heaps of rubble. The picture shows a formkiable barricade on the border of the Concession.

A CHEKIANG AMMUNITION LORRY."Ammunition lorry" does not always mean a motor truck with steel protecting plates for carrying ammunition to the front. The Cheklang arny uses ricshas which can be pulled along the narrow paths leading to the front" line. trenches where a motor truck could not pass. This reśla contains rifle ammunition and half a dozen legs of ham in the cover behind.
