KOWLOON'S BAND CONCERT.

DOWNPOUR CAUSES

ABANDONMENT... Everything was set for another enjoyable band concert in Kow- loon last night. The bandstand was brilliantly illuminated, sever- al hundred chairs had been pro- vided, large numbers of Kowloon rosidents had assembled and the band had actually played most of the first item, whon down came the rain. It was a particularly hoavy shower, dronching all ox- cepting those who had made a hurried run for the shelter of the varandah of the Kowloon Foot ball Club. The bandsmen, hav: ing music and stands to save, caught the full effect of the shower and Bandmaster Brad- shaw rightly decided that it would bo unwise for them to "carry on" for two hours in such wet cloth- ing. There was nothing for it but to abandon the concert.

The programme, which was a particularly attactivo one, will be given at the next concert in a fortnight's time.
